CGU Steps in to save Tropfest
Famous short film Tropfest has been saved by eleventh-hour sponsor CGU Insurance.
The 22 year old event was cancelled last month due to what founder John Polson called a "terrible and irresponsible mismanagement of funds".
The festival will now go ahead on Valentine's Day in Sydney's Centennial Park
Since it was first held in 1993, Tropfest has grown to become the world's largest short film festival, fostering Hollywood stars including Rebel Wilson and Sam Worthington and directors as The Black Balloon's Elissa Down and Two Hands' Gregor Jordan.

Large areas of NSW, Victoria, southern Queensland and WA face above-normal bushfire risk this summer, according to the Bushfire and Natural Hazards Co-operative Research Centre.
Its outlook for southern Australia also warns of an early start to the season in some areas, as the effects of El Nino combine with a long-term rainfall deficit.
“There has been more than a decade of below-average rainfall,” CEO Richard Thornton told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

In a statement released this morning, the ICA said that as of 7am, insurers had received more than 19, 500 claims with losses so far estimated at $129 million.
